Emerging from the gritty underbelly of 1970s Milan, "Angel of Evil" is a riveting cinematic journey that delves into the life of Renato Vallanzasca (Kim Rossi Stuart), a notorious criminal with a notorious past. With the city's underworld firmly under the iron grip of Francis Turatello (Francesco Scianna), a figure of power known as "Faccia d'angelo" (Angel Face), Vallanzasca's arrival with his gang of misfits, childhood friends turned hardened criminals, shakes the status quo. Having traversed the crooked path of crime since his formative years, Vallanzasca ascends to the helm of his gang, leading them from petty robberies to cold-blooded murders. Amidst this life of crime, Renato finds an anchor in Consuelo, a headstrong beauty from the south, who stands by him through tumultuous arrests to daring prison breaks. However, Vallanzasca's reign of terror is nearing its end when a fatal confrontation at the Dalmine tollbooth seals his fate. Arrested and sentenced to Rebibbia prison, he seizes an opportunity to confront his arch-nemesis, Turatello. The following years are a tumultuous rollercoaster of transfers, trials, and audacious escapes. During one such escape, he seeks refuge with Antonella (Paz Vega), a childhood confidante who has remained steadfastly loyal. Yet, Vallanzasca's life on the run resumes, but he's no longer the fiery youth of yore. "Angel of Evil" paints a vivid portrait of Italy's recent history, entwining the personal journey of a notorious criminal with a broader societal narrative, offering an unflinching look at the life of a man who dared to challenge the criminal status quo.
