In the heart of eastern Canada, the bustling Fairfax big box discount retailer forms the backdrop for a tapestry of intertwined lives in the film, All the Wrong Reasons. At the helm of this retail haven is James Ascher, the respected store manager with eyes set on a coveted promotion to regional manager. His ambition is ardently echoed by Radley Weil, a diligent yet misguided worker who envisions himself as James' natural successor. However, the prospect of this promotion casts a shadow over James’ personal life, particularly on his wife, Kate Ascher, who is less than thrilled about the potential move to Toronto. Kate, a figure shrouded in mystery, operates in the less-traveled corners of Fairfax, monitoring the store's video surveillance. Her self-imposed isolation stems from an emotionally crippling ordeal — the suicide of her sister a year ago. This trauma has her recoiling from human touch, even from her husband James, leaving their relationship devoid of physical intimacy. Among the store's vibrant cast of characters is Nicole Cambria, a single mother and store cashier. She grapples with her past, wrestling with the blame she places on her ex, Ben, while struggling to acknowledge her own shortcomings as a mother. A breath of fresh air disrupts the store's usual rhythm in the form of Simon Brunson, a new security guard. An ex-firefighter and an amputee, Simon views his current job as a stepping stone to reclaim his former glory. As the lives of these four individuals intersect, their interactions, particularly between James and Nicole, and Kate and Simon, trigger a ripple effect, shaking the foundation of their existence. The complex dance of professional and personal challenges they face alters their lives, often for all the wrong reasons, painting a poignant picture of human resilience, ambition, and the quest for personal connection.
