Plot

In the chilling anthology of "After Midnight" (1989), a peculiar college professor, Zada, conducts a course known as "The Psychology of Fear", firmly believing that to truly comprehend the essence of fear, one must experience it firsthand. On a tumultuous night, cloaked in darkness and mystery, Zada invites his diverse group of students, which includes the enigmatic psychic McWhirter, to his secluded residence to delve into the depths of terror through a series of eerie tales. The first narrative plunges a young couple into a nightmare when their car grinds to a halt by a forsaken, antiquated house, its silence echoing with untold stories. Next, we trail four stylish teenage girls as they lose their way in a menacing part of town, their fear palpable as they find themselves pursued by a savage pack of dogs, their growls resonating through the deserted streets. The final chilling tale witnesses Helgenberger, a night-shift worker at an answering service, as she squares off against a relentless stalker, the tension reaching a fever pitch. "After Midnight" intertwines these hair-raising tales, challenging the boundaries of fear and offering a haunting exploration of the human psyche, guaranteed to keep viewers on the edge of their seats, long after the credits roll.
