In the outskirts of Paris, a young cinephile, Daniel Michon, lives amidst the chaos of his cabbie father's crooked endeavors. Across town, American transplant, Lauren, navigates her life under the care of her self-absorbed actress mother, Kay King, and her affluent stepfather, Richard King, a computer company tycoon. Lauren, hardened by the transient nature of her mother's relationships, refers to Richard by name, bracing herself for yet another impending separation as Kay's flirtations with Hollywood director, George De Marco, become more frequent.
