Plot
In the realm of the ordinary, a chatty parrot swoops in, sparking an extraordinary journey that disrupts the solitary world of Lyman, a man defined by the shadow of his early life tragedy. Orphaned at four, Lyman (Jackson Hurst) is a loner cloaked in mystery, living a nocturnal existence as a Courtesy Patrol officer and knowing little more than his own name and birth year. His world, however, is turned topsy-turvy by the unexpected arrival of a sassy green parrot who seems to have a knack for conversation and an identity crisis, declaring, "I'm an eagle!"
Lyman's intrigue with the parrot's origins pulls him into the unpredictable orbit of Fiona (Rachel Nichols), a free-spirited librarian who has been observing him from afar, her gaze a blend of fascination and curiosity. Defying his initial resistance, Fiona, with her loyal basset hound in tow, partners with Lyman in a quest to trace the parrot's history. Their journey is dotted with laughter and tension, growing into a romantic drama that delicately unravels the enigma of Lyman's past.
As Fiona accompanies Lyman on his nightly patrols, she is plunged into a stark reality that starkly contrasts her romanticized notions. Yet, it is this unflinching encounter with truth that leads Lyman towards a much-needed reconciliation with his past. Freed from the chains of his dark world, Lyman and Fiona stand on the precipice of a new beginning, bound by their shared journey.
"A Bird of the Air" is a tale of love, self-discovery, and the power of unexpected companionships, all sparked by a stray parrot with a flair for disruption.
