8MM (1999)

This is a psychological thriller in which a private investigator is employed to research a film that appears to be a murder. The film is discovered by a wealthy widow in her late husband’s safe, and the detective uses it to find the mother of the murdered girl in the film. Everyone wants to know the truth, so he starts digging into the world of porn flicks. His obsession with solving the case takes him away from this young family. The truth is much worse than he expected, and when he finally finds the origin of the film, he is in deep water.
