Top of the Lake (2013)

A 12-year-old girl vanishes in a remote small-town area of New Zealand. Police detective Robin Griffith is brought in to investigate. The girl is eventually found, but the situation gets more complicated when the pre-teen is discovered to be pregnant. Young Tui also happens to the daughter of a local drug lord. Detective Griffith gets drawn into a mind-numbing tangle of dark secrets and the criminal activities of Laketop, an idyllic village in a breathtaking New Zealand location. An exotic group of women living out of shipping containers in a makeshift commune adds a profound element of storyline strangeness.
