The Door (2010)

Plot

In the bleak, quiet era of the mid-1980s, under the veiled cover of the night, a man named Nikolai parks his motorcycle alongside a ghostly deserted amusement park. Stealthily, he navigates his way towards a block of residential flats, evading the prying eyes of the security guards. A sudden cacophony of shattered glass and a stern warning forces him to retreat, but not empty-handed. He is a family man, devoted to his wife, Anya, and their fragile, spectral-like daughter, Lena. The narrative then sweeps us back in time, revealing a frantic packing scene, instigated by an authoritative order. The urgency is palpable, yet puzzling - why must they abandon their home, leaving all their possessions behind? This enigma is further deepened when Nikolai, in a later time, dares to return home only to steal a door. The essence of this tale lies not only in the events that unfold but in the unanswered questions that lurk in the shadows. Why must they flee? What could possibly be so significant about a door? As the plot thickens, the viewers are left to unravel the intriguing mysteries of Nikolai's life and the desperate lengths he goes to protect his family.
