It's 1812, and James Keziah Delaney has returned to London after a decade of exploration through Africa. The civilized world believes James dead, but he's been called to fulfill the duty of protecting his recently deceased father's legacy. James has just inherited a vast shipping empire, but adjusting to the etiquette and standards of polite British society won't come quickly. And James doesn't realize how many enemies his father made along the way. He finds himself thrust into the middle of a vast conspiracy where everyone's interests run contrary to his own. His life could hinge on who he chooses to trust.
