Plot

In the vast, sun-scorched expanse of the Australian outback, nestled beneath the grandeur of massive, gleaming white dishes, we find an extraordinary world of Sky Trackers. Here, science and adolescence collide, creating a unique blend of ordinary adolescent dilemmas and extraordinary cosmic wonders. At the heart of this award-winning drama are three young protagonists, Nikki, Mike, and Maggie, each grappling with the chaos of adolescence beneath the watchful eyes of the universe. As the children of scientists based at the space tracking station, their lives are anything but ordinary. This exceptional backdrop provides a window to the cosmos, inviting students globally to conduct space-related experiments sponsored by the Wright Foundation, an advocate for science education. Nikki, a 13-year-old science enthusiast, dreams of leaving her footprints on the Martian soil. This ambition is juxtaposed with the laid-back 14-year-old Mike, who scoffs at science, instead worshipping the iconic Jimi Hendrix. Armed with his guitar and his horse, Mike seeks the meaning of life outside of star charts and space experiments. Their younger companion, Maggie, nine years old and brimming with energy, adds a layer of mischief, often finding ways to meddle in everyone's affairs. As the universe twinkles above them, the adults in their lives, Tony and Marie, tentatively explore the realms of romance, echoing the budding feelings that Nikki and Mike begin to develop for each other. Sky Trackers weaves a rich tapestry of life and learning, unearthing the beauty of the cosmos and the complexities of growing up - all under the Australian sky.
