Miss Marple: The Moving Finger (1985)

Plot

In the quaint town of Lymston, Squadron Leader Gerry Burton and his sister Joanna relocate, seeking respite after a harrowing plane crash. They befriend the colorful tapestry of local residents, from the enigmatic Reverend Guy Dane-Calthrop and his wife, to the intriguing Symmington family, and the resilient Welsh duo, Dr. Griffith and his sister Eryl. Their tranquility, however, is shattered when Gerry becomes the target of an anonymous, venomous letter that drips with scathing accusations. A shroud of malevolence descends upon the peaceful village as more residents reveal they too have been victims of similar vile attacks. In this vortex of uncertainty, Mrs. Dane-Calthrop implores her dear friend, the astute Miss Marple, to intervene. The mystery deepens when Mrs. Symmington, the local solicitor's wife, is found lifeless, with a poison pen letter as her grim companion. Despite the coroner's verdict of suicide, the ever-skeptical Miss Marple smells foul play. Her suspicions are validated when another villager's life is cruelly snuffed out, confirming her conviction that the pen is indeed mightier, and deadlier, than the sword. As the body count rises, the indomitable Miss Marple unearths the insidious purpose behind these malevolent letters, weaving through a labyrinth of deceit, lies, and hidden motives. 'Miss Marple: The Moving Finger' is a chilling expedition into the heart of a seemingly serene village, that slowly unravels into a deadly game of secrets and shadows. This narrative is a tantalizing blend of suspense, mystery, and intrigue, meticulously unwrapped by the legendary Miss Marple.
