Plot

In a world where power and wealth seem to conquer all, Miles Hawkins once stood invincible, blessed with intellect, affluence, and a loving family. Yet, a single bullet forever altered his course, leaving him anchored to a wheelchair. But now, the tides are turning again. Hawkins has masterminded an avant-garde 'harness'—a marvel of technology featuring a headgear that enables the brain's transmitters to bypass the spine. Suddenly, Hawkins can walk, but this newfound mobility comes with more: amplified strength, agility, and speed. However, normality remains elusive. He's either bound to a wheelchair or encased in this high-tech armor—unable to partake in the simple pleasures of life, like a leisurely walk in the park. Initially hesitant, Hawkins is inevitably propelled into a crusade against crime, mirroring the violent incident that shattered his world. Donning the harness and headset, he adopts the persona of M.A.N.T.I.S., striking back at the forces of crime. Armed with an arsenal of advanced gadgets, including the Chrysalid—a prototype police vehicle with the ability to fly and submerge underwater—he's far from alone in his mission. John Stonebrake, a loyal friend and professional comrade, is the genius who transforms Hawkins' theories into tangible, working tech. Taylor Savidge, a daring bike courier from Generation X, stumbles upon the secret identity of Hawkins and insists on joining the team, drawn to the adrenaline-pumping action. Yet, they face formidable opposition. The local police force, including Detective Leora Maxwell—the woman stealing Hawkins' heart—sees M.A.N.T.I.S. as a vigilante tarnishing their reputation. The media is desperate to unmask him, and the criminal underworld perceives him as a business threat. Set against the backdrop of a sprawling West Coast metropolis, "M.A.N.T.I.S." unfolds in the present day. Tonight, he might be prowling in your neighborhood. Beware, for the Mantis is on the move...
