Yet, they face formidable opposition. The local police force, including Detective Leora Maxwell—the woman stealing Hawkins' heart—sees M.A.N.T.I.S. as a vigilante tarnishing their reputation. The media is desperate to unmask him, and the criminal underworld perceives him as a business threat.
