A folk-rock band from New Zealand tries to make it big in New York City with the help of their incompetent manager. Bret is a sensitive man with an affinity for t-shirts with wild animals on them and a shy disposition. Jemaine is cocky and certain of himself, although he rarely has a reason to. While they deal with the humiliations of trying to make it as a musician and the trials of being a foreigner in a strange new land, their music allows them to journey into strange new worlds and parodies of a wide range of different genres.
