Plot

Marking the 150th anniversary of the Civil War's culmination in 2015, Blood and Glory: The Civil War in Color is an H2 miniseries that immerses you in the heart of this monumental conflict. Echoing the narrative style of WWII in HD and Vietnam in HD, the miniseries recounts the Civil War through the authentic experiences of a select group of soldiers who lived, fought, and often died in it. The series traverses the full span of the war's four years, with the North represented by such figures as Pennsylvania's John Geary, a Division Commander who bore witness to all the major campaigns and suffered the agony of his son dying in his arms on the battlefield. Among others, we meet the Taylor Brothers, brave volunteers from the First Minnesota, one of whom lost his life at the historic battle of Gettysburg, and Charles Wainwright, a New York artillery officer known for his insightful diary that was so compelling, it saw publication. From the South, we hear the stories of soldiers like Edward Porter Alexander of Georgia, whose detailed memoir, covering his participation in all the major battles, stands as the finest Southern narrative of the war, and Decimus et Ultimus Barziza of Virginia, the last of ten children in his family, whose gripping tale of capture and escape adds a thrilling layer to the overall narrative. In Blood and Glory: The Civil War in Color, you won't just learn about the Civil War; you'll experience it through the lives of those who were in the thick of it, bringing an era of American history to life in a way like never before.
