Arabian Nights (2000)

In a distant past, the once noble Sultan Shahryar (Dougray Scott) has spiralled into insanity following a chilling assassination attempt, in which his wife, his trusted beloved, played a traitorous role and met her end at Shahryar's own hands. Now, consumed by a deep-seated distrust of women, he concocts a cruel scheme – each night, he marries a woman from his harem, only to have her put to death at dawn. In a daring attempt to halt this cycle of terror, Scheherezade (Mili Avital), the Grand Vizier's courageous daughter and a familiar face from the Sultan's past, willingly steps into the role of the doomed bride. Her risky gamble involves weaving one captivating tale after another, spinning the yarns of Ali Baba (Rufus Sewell) and the Forty Thieves, and Aladdin (Jason Scott Lee) with his magical lamp, in a desperate bid to restore Shahryar's sanity.
