Plot

In the vibrant heart of Mexico, we find artist Jimmy Hudson (Cary Grant), trapped by an unpaid hotel bill, and opera singer Louise Fuller (Grace Moore), shackled by complicated visa issues that have her stuck far from the glamour of her New York stage. Their paths cross, and an unexpected solution emerges: a marriage of convenience. In exchange for Hudson's hand, Fuller offers a way out of his financial bind with a payment of $2,000. Their marital knot tied, Fuller is free to return to her grand opera career in New York, with Hudson not far behind. Their interactions, filled with sharp wit and biting humor, only serve to mask an undeniable chemistry that begins to simmer beneath the surface. A memorable moment emerges when Fuller, in an uncharacteristic departure from her operatic norm, joins a local band to deliver a stirring rendition of "Minnie the Moocher," a number made famous by Cab Calloway. However, the siren call of Fuller's career obligations seems destined to pull the couple apart. Divorce papers are served, yet the power of love refuses to be silenced. In the end, amidst the chaos of their lives, love emerges victorious, painting a heartwarming conclusion to this captivating tale.
