Anna Sasaki is an 11-year old girl who's staying with her family in the beach town in Hokkaido, and she makes a friend in the form of the mysterious blonde girl known as Marnie. Marnie and Anna form a tight bond where their secrets are kept solely between them; but as their friendship develops and time goes on, Anna comes to wonder who Marnie is and where she came from. As time goes on, she comes to learn more about Marnie. The results are sobering for a young girl to digest, especially when Anna discover how they affect her directly.
