Plot

Once a promising singer, 16-year-old Annie Mary was poised to study music in Milan until a family tragedy clipped her wings. Now at 33, she lives under the domineering presence of her devout and opera-obsessed father, affectionately known as 'The Voice of the Valleys', who dreams of his own Pavarotti-like fame. Annie Mary's songbird spirit is caged, her voice silenced, as she yearns to escape the confines of her father's expectations. However, her dreams of liberation are thwarted when her father suffers a stroke, further tightening the chains of familial duty. Her rebellion finally sparks when she rallies her quaint Welsh village in an audacious quest, aiming to fulfill the Disneyland dreams of her terminally ill best friend, Bethan Bevan, a vivacious 16-year-old. But the road to Disneyland is fraught with missteps, and Annie Mary's blunder of losing their hard-earned funds in a reckless horse race bet turns her into the village pariah. In the midst of her fall from grace, a request echoes through the valley: the village wants Annie Mary to sing again. As she steps up to this challenge, she discovers the strength to finally spread her wings and embrace her own voice.
