In the dusty backdrop of a used car parts dealership, 14-year-old Ivan leads a life of dreams and desperation with his Uncle Jaime, a middling trader in the rough and tumble business. They're both bound by a shared vision of a brighter future, hoarding away pennies with dreams of illegally crossing the border to Chicago. However, when Jaime discovers the grim reality of their financial shortcoming, he thrusts young Ivan into the murky underworld of car-part theft. Ivan, a fast learner, adapts swiftly to the demands of his new vocation, introducing his best friend Efrain into their clandestine operations. As the boys navigate their newfound trade with a blend of fear and excitement, they execute Jaime's commands with uncanny skill. The thrill of their secret escapades becomes the spice of their otherwise monotonous lives, until Ivan uncovers a shift in Jaime's original intentions for their journey.
