Plot

As spring dawns on 1942, President F.D.R. puts pen to paper, enacting executive order 9066. This decree becomes a dark cloud over the lives of over 110,000 Japanese Americans, a majority being U.S. citizens, as they are herded into internment camps. Amongst them are three unique men - Min Yasui, a seasoned attorney hailing from Oregon; Gordon Hirabayashi, a determined Quaker college student rooted in Washington; and Fred Korematsu, a hardworking Bay Area welder. These men find themselves serving time behind bars, not for any heinous crime, but for simply being Japanese Americans, a fate sealed by the U.S. Supreme Court. Fast forward forty years, these three men, now weathered by time and injustice, mount a fight against their past, filing suits to overturn their unjust sentences. "Unfinished Business" is a stirring documentary that unveils their tales, piercing the veil of four decades of enforced silence and shame. As the credits roll, we are left on the precipice of resolution, the court proceedings echoing the film's title - a poignant work of justice, yet unfinished.
