Unearthed (2008)

In the barren, sun-scorched expanses of Hat Creek desert, a sinister mystery begins to unfold. Local farmers, their faces etched with fear, discover their cattle grotesquely mutilated, their bodies half-devoured. The culprit, they suspect, is a wolf on the prowl. However, the hardened, though alcohol-addled, Sheriff Annie Flynn is called to investigate a phenomenon far more chilling than the predations of mere wildlife. As Flynn ventures into the heart of this enigma, she crosses paths with Rob Horn, a local farmer seeking government aid following a freak accident involving a tank truck that has left the only road out disturbingly blocked. Their lives take an unexpected detour when they stumble upon a revelation that shakes the very foundations of their understanding of life on Earth. Deep within the veiled recesses of the desert, an ancient alien creature, a terrifying amalgam of a Predator and a mini-Tyrannosaurus rex, has awakened. Unearthed by the unsuspecting Indian archaeologist, Kale, during an excavation in an Anasazi tribal burial site, this alien bio-probe was sent to extinguish life on Earth centuries ago. Now, Flynn, Kale, the enigmatic Indian woman Caya, and a ragtag group of travelers stranded due to the road blockage, find themselves in a life-or-death race against time. Stranded in the unforgiving desert with their fuel reserves dwindling, this unlikely band of survivors must navigate the labyrinth of fear and uncertainty, to devise a plan to annihilate this unearthly predator and preserve humanity's existence. Their survival hangs in the balance, the desert their arena, and the alien, their relentless adversary.
