Plot

In the sprawling landscape of Shimla, 16-year-old Rohan Singh, an aspiring poet and writer, finds his dreams abruptly snuffed out when he's expelled from the hallowed halls of Bishop Cotton School. Cast back into the industrial town of Jamshedpur, he's confronted with a family life he scarcely recognizes after eight long years of boarding school abandonment. The furious storm of his widowed father, Bhairav, a man who never visited him during his school years, impatiently waits for him, ready to force him into the machinations of their family business and engineering studies. As Rohan attempts to navigate this bristling new existence, he discovers another startling revelation. His father, having remarried and widowed again during Rohan's absence, has a school-going son, Arjun. Rohan grapples with the presence of a younger half-brother he never knew existed and the jarring reality of his father's hardened plans for him. The tale takes a darker turn as the once sheltered schoolboy is thrust into the harsh realities of adulthood following an arrest, and Arjun's hospitalization. Amid the oppressive clanging of his father's steel factory and the stifling confines of the engineering college, Rohan battles to reclaim his dreams, yearning to break free from the iron chains of his circumstances and rekindle the flame of his passion for writing. The story of Udaan is a poignant journey of self-discovery, resilience, and the pursuit of a dream against all odds.
