True Story (2015)

Michael Finkel's dream job at the New York Times is a thing of the past after ruining his reputation, and he's struggling to find his new place in life. One day he gets a call about a man named Christian Longo. Longo has apparently been pretending to be Finkel for years without the real Michael's knowledge, and a surprising friendship starts to form as Finkel begins meeting with Longo in prison. Longo's been accused of brutally murdering his family in Oregon and fleeing to Mexico. How well Finkel manages to untangle Longo's story could determine whether he has a future as a journalist.
