Ticker (2001)

In the heart of a tumultuous hostage crisis, seasoned bomb expert Frank Glass and a courageous SWAT team penetrate the fortified residence of a besieged Senator. Amidst a fierce gunfight and an escalating tension, Glass discovers and disarms a bomb, but his instincts tell him the game has only just begun. A year later, in the cityscape of San Francisco, we find two dedicated vice cops and partners, Ray Nettles and Art "Fuzzy" Rice. Nettles, still grappling with the tragic loss of his wife and son to a bomb, is a man on the edge. His once vibrant life is now overshadowed by grief and a disinterest in life that Fuzzy tries resiliently to combat. Amid their routine patrol, they stumble upon a suspicious activity that leads them to a clandestine apartment and a mysterious warehouse. Intrigue deepens when Nettles crosses paths with an enigmatic scientist, Claire Manning, and Fuzzy falls prey to the deadly Swann - a notorious IRA-affiliated terrorist behind the Senator's house bombing. Nettles arrests Claire, who remains defiantly silent about Swann but is found with a bracelet embedded with potent explosives. As Glass examines the cryptic device, it becomes clear that the past is about to collide with the present, sparking off an explosive chain of events. Swann, desperate for Claire's return and enraged by her detention, threatens to ignite a bomb every hour until she's freed, turning the city into a ticking time bomb. As it surfaces that Claire seeks vengeance against the city government for her husband's murder, Nettles, Glass and the bomb squad must unravel Swann's grand plan before the city hall is reduced to ashes. In this high-stakes game of cat and mouse, Nettles and Glass find themselves in an unlikely alliance, racing against the clock to foil Swann's destructive plot. As the motives behind the big job unfold, the duo must confront their personal demons and put their lives on the line to prevent a catastrophe.
