Plot

In a quaint town, Gao-bing toils in a dwindling bakery, kneading love into every loaf he bakes. His employer, Mr. Chiu, is preoccupied with his Rock 'n' Roll dreams, while Di, the apathetic apprentice, shows little interest in the art of baking. Amidst the bakery's spiraling fortunes, Gao-bing is at a loss, left to rely on tradition and tireless labor to keep the ovens warm. Gao-bing shares his life and love with Ping, Mr. Chiu's daughter, who grew up alongside him. However, Ping yearns for more than just tradition; she craves a spark to rekindle the bakery's once thriving business. In her quest for innovation, she enrolls in a city-based baking course, where she crosses paths with the charismatic Bread, an American with a passion for baking and a flair for the dramatic. Bread, with his charming wit and unique baking style, immediately falls for Ping. Despite her relationship with Gao-bing, Ping is intrigued by the magical allure of Bread's creations and ponders if he could be the bakery's much-needed savior. Under Ping's orchestration, Bread moves into Mr. Chiu's home, becoming Gao-bing's roommate, and an ever-present reminder of the competition for Ping's affections and the future of the bakery. Bread's philosophy of infusing his past into his bread clashes with Gao-bing's traditionalist approach, leading to a cultural and culinary showdown. Gao-bing sees Bread as nothing more than an audacious American interloper. However, with the bakery’s fate hanging in the balance, the two must navigate a contentious co-existence, a love triangle, and their contrasting baking styles.
