The Runner (1999)

Plunged into the perilous world of gambling, a youthful risk-taker finds himself ensnared in a web of debt. In a desperate bid to pay off his dues, his uncle intervenes, leveraging his influence to secure him a peculiar job. He becomes the indispensable 'runner' for a formidable gangster, darting across town to place bets on his master's behalf. Under the watchful eye of his ruthless employer, he mostly adheres to his duties. Yet, the allure of carrying hefty cash becomes his undoing. The 'runner' threatens his livelihood and life, daring to skim off his boss's funds to afford a ring for his beloved. As he navigates this treacherous path, the young gambler must confront his addiction, his loyalty, and his quest for survival.
