Plot

In the tumultuous year of 1982, we meet Lucja Krol, a woman of iron-will, grappling with her husband's tragic demise under a tram. Amidst the chaos, she bravely welcomes her fourth son into the world on the cold floor of their humble abode. Their lives intertwine with Wiktor, a neighbor with communist ideologies, who extends a friendly hand to the struggling family, only to be incarcerated soon after. As the war tightens its grip, Lucja deftly sidesteps a Nazi dragnet at the black market, her resilience unwavering. Her home transforms into a hotbed for impassioned Communist discourses led by her sons, a spectacle she silently endorses. Lucja's life is a testament to endurance, weathering hardships without uttering a word of complaint. Post-war, an eerie twist of fate sees Klemens, her son, ensnared by accusations of collaboration by the new regime. Wiktor, now a high-ranking party member, steps forward in defense only to be toppled from grace. Klemens, subjected to brutal torture, succumbs in jail, his communist spirit undying. Lucja is left in the dark about his tragic end, her life a poignant testament to survival amidst relentless adversities.
