In the aftermath of a shocking, unexpected demise, a cryptic list from history opens the door to an unspeakable darkness. Renny Jacobson, a hopeful young man freshly graduated from law school, is left flabbergasted by his father's abrupt passing. The bewilderment deepens with the revelation of his father's will, which has bequeathed the lion's share of his wealth to charity, leaving for Renny nothing but a safe deposit box's contents and a stake in an unheard-of company – the enigmatic Covenant List of South Carolina, Ltd. His world takes an intriguing turn when he crosses paths with the enchanting Jo Johnston and meets the enigmatic members of "The List."
