Plot

The verdant expanse of a wildlife reserve in Kenya is the exotic playground of young Tina, who shares a unique bond with the majestic king of the jungle - a fully grown lion. Living with her mother and stepfather, her unconventional friendship and immersion in local traditions cast ripples of concern in their tranquil existence. Her mother, increasingly anxious about Tina's growing wildness, sees her daughter's behavior as a call to the wild, a journey away from civilization rather than towards it. In desperation, she reaches out to Tina's biological father - a relic of their past life in rural Connecticut. Her hope is that his presence might offer the anchor of normalcy needed to pull Tina back from the brink of savagery. Yet, beneath her pleas for a civilized upbringing, there lurks a deeper desire. As the American father journeys into the heart of Kenya to wrestle with the complex dynamic of a family divided between two worlds, he must also confront the unspoken wishes of his former wife. "The Lion" is a vivid exploration of familial bonds and cultural clashes, set against the backdrop of the breathtaking African wilderness. It paints a portrait of a family on the edge of a world as wild and untamed as the lion that prowells within it.
