Plot

In the bustling harbor of San Francisco, a tale of crime, deceit, and desperation unfurls. When a seemingly innocent porter hurls a suitcase into a taxi, a chain of events is set in motion, resulting in a fatal collision between the driver and a police officer, both dying in the aftermath. The suitcase, owned by the unsuspecting Philip Dressler, is found to contain not just valuable antiques from his Asian adventure but a sinister secret. The city's finest, Lieutenant Guthrie and Inspector Quine, unearth a hidden cache of heroin within a statuette, replacing the narcotic with sugar before returning the suitcase to the oblivious Dressler. Simultaneously, the city's underworld stirs as a psychopathic gangster known as Dancer, but masquerading as Tom Evans, his malevolent mentor who has a morbid fascination with his victims' final words, and their inebriate young wheelman, Sandy McLain, are engaged by the elusive kingpin, "The Man". Their mission? To retrieve heroin packages craftily concealed within the luggage of three oblivious tourists. The trio skillfully secures the first two packages, but when they reach for the final one, hidden within the delicate confines of a Japanese doll, they find it disconcertingly empty. Panic ensues as the gangsters resort to desperate measures, taking a young mother and her daughter hostage. As the gangsters scramble to salvage their plan, the police are hot on their trail, leading to a gripping showdown in the heart of the city. The Lineup is a thrilling rollercoaster ride of crime and suspense, where every player is entangled in a dangerous dance on the fine line between innocence and guilt.
