Plot

In the waning years of the eighteenth century, amidst the solemnity of Holy Week, a noble count travels to his bustling Havana sugar mill, coinciding with a slave's daring escape. This prompts the count to command his ruthless overseer, Don Manuel, to select twelve slaves to partake in an unconventional feast at his grand table. Despite his stern resistance, Don Manuel is helpless against the count's whims. The elusive runaway, upon recapture, becomes the twelfth and final guest at this peculiar gathering. As the dinner unfolds, the count artfully uses religious allegories to preach about the supposed bliss found in the bonds of servitude. The captive guests, in return, share tales and voice requests. The count, in a surprising act of clemency, grants them respite from labor on the sacred day of Good Friday. However, as dawn breaks, he departs abruptly, leaving the slaves at the mercy of Don Manuel, who disregards the promise and commands them to toil in the cane fields. This ignites a spark of rebellion among the slaves. As chaos ensues, a pivotal question looms: Whose side will the count choose in this battle of defiance and authority? The unfolding drama paints a vivid picture of power, oppression, and the human spirit's relentless pursuit of freedom.
