The Ladykillers (2004)

This is a comedy that involves a pretentious old Southern professor and his crew of criminals. They pose as musicians to gain the trust of their landlady, a law-abiding citizen. They need to dig a tunnel from the basement of their new home to a casino and hide the digging sounds with music on a CD player, so their landlady will think they are rehearsing. Several comical challenges ensue before they can pull off the job, but when they do finally have the money, their landlady finds out about it and insists they return it or she will call the police. This is when the comedy turns dark.
