The Keyhole (1933)

In the heart of an intricate dance of deceit, Anne Brooks finds herself tangled in the demanding grasp of her former dance partner Maurice. Their youthful marriage, now a haunting relic of the past, was supposedly shattered by Maurice's promised speedy divorce, leaving Anne free to navigate a new life. She soon finds herself in the arms of the affluent and considerably older, Schuyler Brooks. However, Maurice's sudden reappearance and the revelation that their divorce was a mere illusion, thrusts Anne into a maelstrom of blackmail. Desperate, Anne confides in Portia, Schuyler's shrewd sister, who concocts a ploy to banish Maurice from the country. The plan revolves around Anne's sudden solo sojourn to Cuba, meant to lure Maurice away, while Portia uses her influence to bar his return. However, Anne's solo trip stirs the dormant embers of Schuyler's jealousy, leading him to enlist the services of Neil Davis, a private detective. With a mandate to shadow Anne and uncover the truth about her faithfulness, Neil embarks on his mission. His attempts to seduce Anne are futile, and in a twist of fate, he finds himself captivated by the woman he was hired to spy on. The plot thickens as Neil grapples with his newfound feelings, spun into a web of love, deceit, and desperation.
