The Infinite Worlds of H.G. Wells (2001)

“H.G. Wells foresaw the future in such visionary novels as The Time Machine and The War of the Worlds...”

Plot

In the shadowy corners of 1946 London, a newspaper reporter named Ellen McGillivray dares to knock on the door of the renowned author, Herbert George Wells, visionary behind The Time Machine and The War of the Worlds. She's driven by the desire to uncover the catalysts for his prophetic tales, only to be drawn into an extraordinary world where the constraints of science are mere illusions. This mesmerizing journey traces back half a century to Imperial College of Science in London, where Wells first encounters Jane Robbins, a scientist as intrigued by the inexplicable as he is. This magnetic woman effortlessly ensnares Wells' heart, and together, they plunge into the vortex of the unknown. Their nocturnal experiments and clandestine explorations of the supernatural launch them into the eddies of time, past and present, a reality beyond their wildest imagination. This enigmatic universe becomes their cherished secret, an unbreakable bond that transcends time. Ellen, to Wells' astonishment, not only believes his fantastical tales of time travel but reveals her true identity as an underground government agent. She presents him with an enigma only he can decipher: a crystalline orb rumored to hold the secrets of the cosmos, our cosmic neighbors, and our historic encounters with them. What Ellen unravels, at the heart of this mysterious orb, is the equally enigmatic essence of Jane Robbins, the muse who ignited H.G. Wells' ability to weave the extraordinary truth into the fabric of science "fiction." The Infinite Worlds of H.G. Wells invites viewers on a thrilling journey through time, love, and the untold secrets of the universe.
