Plot

In the quaint corners of a small Danish town, two disgruntled butchers, Svend and Bjarne, find themselves at odds with their arrogant employer. Fueled by frustration and a thirst for independence, they venture out to establish their own butcher shop. However, their fledgling venture struggles to take off, with the townsfolk showing little interest in their offerings. With the grim specter of failure looming over them, an unforeseen and chilling accident occurs. An unsuspecting electrician tragically meets his end in their shop’s freezer, coinciding with an overwhelming order of meat. A hasty, desperate decision leads to an unthinkable solution - selling the marinated "chicken", which soon has the townsfolk clamoring for more. The once struggling butcher shop now thrives on this unexpected success. Simultaneously, Bjarne finds himself wrestling with personal demons as he grapples with the condition of his twin brother, trapped in a coma after a horrific car crash. The brothers' fates inexplicably intertwined, as Bjarne's life oscillates between the bustling butcher shop and the haunting silence of the hospital room. A darkly comic tale of ambition, desperation, and the unforeseen consequences of one's choices, "The Green Butchers" paints a compelling portrait of two friends teetering on the edge of moral ambiguity. As their "chicken" supply dwindles, the question looms - what happens next?
