Plot

In an alternative version of the 1950s, the world is shrouded in a lethal haze of poisonous gas, making survival a game of wits and resilience. The Fitzroy Hotel, a once-glorious submarine now abandoned and rotting off the coast of England, serves as the last beacon of the traditional British seaside holiday in this post-apocalyptic landscape. At the heart of this dark comedy is Bernard, the hotel's jack of all trades; bellboy, chef, repairman, and the glue holding the dilapidated submarine together. Every day, he wages a relentless battle against the encroaching decay, striving to keep The Fitzroy afloat and airtight, a safe haven amid the gas-ridden world outside. However, his monotonous existence is thrown into a whirlwind of chaos when he falls head over heels for Sonya, a beguiling guest with a lethal secret. Suddenly, Bernard finds himself ensnared in a dangerous web of lies, betrayal, and murder. As he navigates this deadly labyrinth, desperately trying to conceal Sonya's murderous trail from the other guests and prying authorities, his world threatens to collapse around him. With his sanctuary sinking and his loyalties torn, Bernard is left with an impossible choice: the enigmatic woman who has stolen his heart or the crumbling submarine hotel that keeps them all alive. "The Fitzroy" is a riveting exploration of love, survival, and the lengths one man will go to protect both in a world turned upside down.
