Plot

In the quaint, New England town of Castle Rock, Maine, Thad Beaumont, a respected writer and professor, lives a contented existence with his wife, Liz, and their two children. Thad's tranquil life is disrupted when a punk from New York uncovers his most guarded secret, threatening to expose it to the world. In the past, Thad had penned lurid pulp novels under the pseudonym, George Stark, amassing a substantial fortune and a discreet reputation. This revelation prompts Thad and Liz to strategize, deciding to publicly reveal George Stark's identity. The ensuing media circus culminates in a symbolic funeral, where Thad buries George Stark in a mock grave, hoping to bury his past as well. However, the aftermath of this spectacle is far from over as a chilling murder spree sweeps across Castle Rock, with all signs pointing towards Thad as the prime suspect. Simultaneously, a horrifying truth from Thad's childhood is unveiled. During a surgery to remove what was believed to be a tumor, it was discovered that the growth was, in fact, Thad's undeveloped twin brother. This revelation casts a dark shadow over Thad's innocence, intertwining his past and present in a sinister web of mystery and suspicion. Thad becomes increasingly entangled in a labyrinth of accusations and dread, proclaiming his alter ego, George Stark, to be the true orchestrator of the bloody carnage. As bodies pile up, Thad must grapple with the terrifying possibility of his violent pseudonym coming to life. The question remains: How can an imaginary alter ego be the perpetrator behind such gruesome horrors? The Dark Half explores this eerie enigma, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats, their hearts pounding with each suspenseful twist and turn.
