Caught in the crosshairs of tradition and desire is Mordechai ‘Motti’ Wolkenbruch, a youthful Orthodox Jew adhering to his family's customs. Motti's life takes a whirlwind turn when he finds himself affronted by a peculiar predicament—his mother's ceaseless quest to find him a suitable wife, with each potential bride bearing an uncanny resemblance to her. The parade of matrimonial candidates is persistent, yet none captivate Motti as they mirror the image of his doting mother, instilling in him a growing disquiet. However, the world outside his orthodox enclave offers an enticing alternative in the form of the vibrant Laura. Unlike the women his mother parades before him, Laura is a schikse—an outsider—a non-Jewish woman who dances to the tune of her own life, adorned in pants, sipping gin and tonic, and wielding a colorful vocabulary. Her allure is undeniable, her spirit captivating, and to Motti, her existence is a breath of fresh air in his otherwise predetermined existence. As Motti's fascination with Laura begins to blossom into something more profound, he starts questioning the path laid out before him by his parents.
