Plot

In the fusion of documentary and fiction that is Summer of Goliath, the quiet tales of the denizens of Huilotepec, a rural Mexican town, unfold. Teresa, a forsaken wife, grapples with the abrupt disappearance of her husband, convinced that he has abandoned her for another. Her son, Gabino, a roadside soldier, dreams of the day he and his comrade, Alberto, will wield machine guns, adding an extra layer of fear to the scarce traffic they inspect. Simultaneously, the story of the three brothers, Amalio, Nico, and Oscar, gradually comes to light through a captivating blend of interviews and dramatizations. Abandoned by their father and with a mother barely managing to keep them afloat, the brothers navigate their tough existence. Oscar, the youngest, has earned the moniker Goliath, a haunting reminder of his girlfriend's unexplained death. This blend of life's harsh realities and the whispers of folklore paints a vivid portrait of life in the heart of rural Mexico.
