Plot
In the quirky, laugh-out-loud comedy, Stupidman (2006), we follow the hilarious escapades of a well-meaning but woefully inept superhero from his dramatic flight from the condemned planet Crapton to his ill-fated landing on Earth. Adopted by cash-strapped parents who swiftly capitalize on his peculiar abilities, he masquerades as the mild-mannered and easily duped Kent Clark.
As Clark, he lands a gig at the charmingly antiquated Evening Moon newspaper, where he finds himself entranced by the ambitious reporter, Lotus Lamé, and her enigmatic, nerd-chic sidekick, Jamie Oldstone. But his blissful ignorance is interrupted by the machinations of the maniacal environmentalist-gone-rogue, Lax A. Tiv.
When Clark's boss, the notoriously tough editor Barry Black, is kidnapped by Tiv's bungling minions, Nipps LeTrog and Clyde Pigsqueal, Stupidman's rescue attempt spirals into a comedy of errors. From an overly elaborate costume change to a mischievous mid-air escapade with Lotus Lamé, Stupidman's efforts are more entertaining than effective.
This is a satirical homage to the classic Superman tale, teasing out elements from the iconic 50s TV show and 70s feature films, and spinning them into a riotous parody. Can the most clueless superhero on Earth save his hard-boiled boss from a hippie-gone-gangster villain? And how long can he keep his identity under wraps amidst his misadventures? Stupidman is a delightful romp that will keep you in stitches, urging you to tune in and find out!
