Stargate (1994)

When Daniel Jackson, Egyptologist, is brought to a secret military facility to decipher ancient hieroglyphics, he realizes the symbols are actually an ancient map of the stars. He accidentally opens a Stargate to a distant planet. With the help of a military team, Jackson explores the planet, but what he finds may change humanity's future forever -- if Jackson survives long enough to bring his findings back to Earth.
