Plot

As the curtain of final semester descends at Harvard, Sam Thatcher and his comrade, affectionately christened "The Lippencott", dream of an unconventional path. They yearn to escape the mundane American grind, booking a freighting voyage from New York to the frost-kissed plains of Siberia, intending to soak in its stark economic life. A journey hatched since their youthful freshman days, to be embarked upon post-graduation. However, Sam's sweetheart, Alex Benson, a graduating student from the New England College for Women, remains oblivious to this impending odyssey. Alex, desiring to present Sam at the college's spring dance—an event symbolizing commitment—finds herself at the crossroads of love and ambition. Sam, caught in the whirlwind of his impending voyage and the last chance to see Alex, finds himself in a dilemma. The situation escalates when the freight's departure is preponed to the weekend of the dance. Meanwhile, Lipp, skeptical about Sam's commitment to their Siberian adventure, conspires to ensure his friend's departure. Relying on their mutual friend, Hat, who frequently visits the college to meet his girlfriend Frances, a friend of Alex's, Lipp plans to ambush Sam and ensure he sets sail. What ensues is a weekend of strategic maneuvers and clandestine plans. On one side, Alex's friends, unbeknownst to her, plot to make Sam miss his voyage. On the other, Lipp, aware of the feminine conspiracy, fights to keep their dream alive. The drama intensifies as the dance floor swells with boys from all Ivy League schools, their camaraderie and rivalry with Harvard adding a fresh twist to the plot. Will Sam set sail or succumb to the allure of love and rivalry? The weekend's outcome hinges on this tantalizing question.
