Plot

Embarking on a train journey to Los Angeles, the impulsive bride, Remember 'Mem' Steddon, makes the hasty decision to abandon her husband, Owen Scudder. Unbeknownst to her, Scudder harbors a sinister past filled with marriages and murders for monetary gain. Stranded and unprepared for the world beyond her sheltered upbringing, Mem stumbles onto the sunlit set of a Hollywood film helmed by the charismatic director, Frank Claymore. Welcomed with open arms by the cast and crew, Mem finds herself drawn into the world of cinema, a path she had previously dismissed due to her conservative upbringing. However, faced with the harsh reality of life on her own, she decides to take a daring leap into the world of acting. This pursuit proves more challenging than imagined, until fate leads her back to Claymore, who is resolved to transform her into a star. As Mem's stardom ascends, she attracts the adoration of many, including the dashing Claymore and her co-star, Tom Holby. However, the dazzling spotlight also exposes her to her past, leading her parents and the dangerous Scudder to her doorstep. Now, the looming scandal of being associated with a notorious murderer threatens to shatter Mem's newfound fame and dreams. This tale of ambition, identity, and deception weaves a captivating narrative about the price of fame and the pursuit of one's dreams.
