Plot

Nestled in the bustling heart of New York City, affluence drips from the lives of private art dealers Louisa "Ouisa" Kittredge and John Flanders "Flan" Kittredge. Their crowning glory, a double-sided Kandinsky painting, embodies their world; one side drenched in control, the other teetering on the edge of chaos. Their sophisticated routine is disrupted one evening by the unexpected arrival of a young stranger, Paul Poitier, just as they court the influential Geoffrey Miller, a potential investor who could catapult them into unimaginable wealth. Paul, sporting a minor wound from a mugging, claims to be not only a friend of their Harvard-attending children but also the offspring of acclaimed actor and director Sidney Poitier. He speaks of an imminent rendezvous with his father who is in town directing the movie "Cats", casting a captivating spell with his charm, eloquence, and seemingly illustrious pedigree. Beyond the allure of possible roles in the film, Ouisa, Flan, and Geoffrey are entranced by Paul, their intrigue leading them to invite him into their home for the night. The dawn breaks with startling revelations about their charming guest, turning their encounter with Paul into a legendary tale that leads them on a relentless search after his abrupt exit. As they delve deeper, their once pristine lives begin to unravel, forcing Ouisa to critically examine their existence and the depth of their compassion. This tantalizing narrative of deception, self-discovery, and the enigmatic connections that bind us, Six Degrees of Separation, serves as a mirror to the complexities and contradictions of human nature.
