Plot

Jesse, a hopeless romantic with an undeniable charm, knows how to woo a woman but is haunted by an aversion to marriage. When his relationship with Hannah crumbles, and a former fiancée passes away in the same week, Jesse embarks on a soul-searching journey. Propelled by an urgent desire to understand his recurring failures, he revisits the ghosts of his past relationships - seven women with whom he once shared his heart. His journey, more than just a series of visits, becomes a captivating road trip of self-discovery. He seeks counsel from a myriad of his ex-lovers: a youthful sweetheart, a fiercely independent woman who occasionally shares his bed, a vibrant collective of lesbians, and even the vivacious Anabeth who, though deceased, continues to guide him in his dreams. Not every encounter brims with nostalgia and goodwill, however. Jesse must face the wrath of one still-resentful ex, but with the aid of her ingenious friend Laura, a level-headed insomniac, he manages to engage in a much-needed conversation. As Jesse navigates through this labyrinth of love and loss, he inches closer to an elusive understanding of his relationship failures. The journey culminates at Anabeth's funeral, where a potential encounter with Hannah awaits. Enveloped in a sea of past and present emotions, Jesse is on the precipice of a revelation that may finally unravel the mystery of his romantic misgivings. Seven Girlfriends is a poignant exploration of love's complexities and the quest to grasp what consistently eludes us.
