Plot

In the heart of the turbulent year of 1967, Eli Rosenberg, a young white man from the bustling streets of Brooklyn, finds himself accepted into one place he never anticipated: Meharry Medical College. Situated far from his familiar New York life, this all-black medical school in Tennessee represents his only ticket into the medical world. Simultaneously, Michael Dubois, a black man carrying the weight of his successful father's expectations, finds himself bound for the same institution, his destiny tied to his father's alma mater, despite his personal reservations. In the crucible of this illustrious but challenging institution, these two outsiders from strikingly different backgrounds are thrust together. As they navigate the pressures of medical school life in the heated socio-political climate of the 1960s, they find themselves grappling with the intricate enigmas of medicine, the rigors of stringent professors, and the complexities of their shared predicament. As the spring of 1968 unfurls, the tension intensifies. Eli, Michael, and their peers are faced with the daunting task of battling not just the academic rigors, but also their personal demons. Amidst the escalating tensions, they strive to uphold the noble cause that binds them all – providing service to man. In this stirring tale of determination and camaraderie, Service to Man explores the journey of these two distinct individuals united by a common goal. Together, they must overcome their differences and adversities to, ultimately, fulfill their shared ambition of becoming healers.
