The Verneuil family is a lot of things, but their values and their habits are squarely centered on their identity as French Catholics. That makes things all the more chaotic for the holidays when the first three of the family's children end up married to spouses from different religions. Their fourth appears to have found a good Catholic boy to settle down with, and the parents couldn't be more overjoyed. That is until they discover that her new fiance is from the Ivory Coast. They'll need to reconcile with their conservative values if they want their daughter to continue to speak with them.
