From the cobblestone streets of Czechoslovakia to the towering skyscrapers of New York City, Karel Novak's dream of setting foot on American soil becomes a riveting journey of hope, resilience, and love. When fate presents a daunting obstacle at Ellis Island, increasing the entrance fee beyond his means, Karel takes the audacious step of swimming across the waters to Manhattan, losing his precious wallet in the process. Despite the setback, Karel's spirits soar as he marvels at the city's grandeur, its bustling streets echoing with the hum of automobiles.
