In the dusty grit of the Wild West, hardened bounty hunter Ben Brigade traverses the treacherous landscape, his captive, wanted murderer Billy John, in tow. His destination: Santa Cruz, where the hangman's noose awaits Billy. But the journey is fraught with peril, and a chance stop at a staging post spirals into chaos as an Indian attack erupts, threatening the life of the manager's wife.
