Buddy Evans, a charismatic executive at Madison Square Garden and one of New York City's most eligible bachelors, finds himself at the crossroads of midlife. At forty-four, he's enjoyed his share of romantic entanglements but now yearns for something more - a biological son, a legacy. Shunning the conventional route of marriage, Buddy hatches a plan to commission a surrogate, a woman from his past, who'd carry his child while he assumes the full responsibility of parenting. However, his search for a willing surrogate among his former flames proves more challenging than anticipated. Enter Maggie - a vibrant, struggling trumpet player who pours coffee at Buddy's favorite haunt. Aspiring to hone her craft at a revered music academy in Paris, she needs funds. She also desires to experience the miracle of birth without the strings of motherhood attached. As Buddy and Maggie venture into this unconventional pact, steering through the labyrinth of legality, finance, and a strictly business-like approach, they may stumble upon unexpected truths about their desires and aspirations. Their individual goals of a child and a music career may collide with their evolving understanding of life, questioning the very foundation of their peculiar arrangement.
